Domestic violence and abuse affects many people within family relationships.  It can be physical, emotional, psychological, financial or sexual. The violence and/or abuse can be actual or threatened and can happen once every so often or on a regular basis.  Alongside or as an alternative to Police involvement we are able to advise and assist on whether an Injunction from the family court is appropriate for you.

Injunctions form two types of Orders.  The first is a Non-Molestation Order which deals with the prevention of future violence or threats to you.   The second is an Occupation Order which deals with the removal of the perpetrator from the family home.  It is possible to seek the Orders separately to together depending on the circumstances of your case.  In some circumstances the Order can be applied for without telling the other person first.

If your situation is urgent and you or your children are at risk of immediate danger you should always contact the Police for assistance.

We appreciate domestic violence is a sensitive matter and will discuss your options with you in a constructive and compassionate manner so you are able to take whichever steps you feel are necessary.

Domestic violence can have an impact on the resolution of the arrangements for children and for financial matters even if an Injunction is not obtained.  Should you feel domestic violence is a factor please do talk to us about this as early as possible.
